The Arrival of Jackson
From the moment six-year-old Jackson strutted into the studio, we knew we were in for a ride. Dressed in a dinosaur hoodie, trainers with flashing lights, and an air of complete confidence, he was ready for his close-up—or so he thought.
The Interrogation Begins
The photoshoot had barely begun when Jackson, armed with an arsenal of questions, started his interrogation. “Why is the camera so big?” “Do you live here?” (directed at the photographer) and the ever-important, “Will there be snacks?”—which, to be fair, was the question on all our minds.
Our photographer, a seasoned professional who had clearly seen it all, took it in stride. “The camera is big so I can see all your best smiles,” she said.
Jackson responded with an exaggerated, toothy grin that looked more like he was being attacked by a tickle monster.
Action-Packed Poses
When it came time for the first set of photos, Jackson was meant to stand still, give a natural smile, and just look adorable (which he obviously already was).
However, Jackson had other ideas. Instead of standing still, he showcased his signature ‘ninja-spin kick,’ a move he had clearly been working on at home. “That’s a cool move, buddy,” the photographer said, trying to redirect. “But can we try just standing for this one?” Jackson nodded and then immediately struck what can only be described as a ‘superhero about to fly’ pose.
Eventually, with the promise of snacks (and a little bribery from Mum), we got some natural shots—although ‘natural’ for Jackson included some accidental mid-jump action shots, a few cross-eyed grins, and a thumbs-up in nearly every frame.
The Outfit Saga
Then came the outfit changes. Jackson, now feeling like a true model, had opinions. “This jumper is itchy.” “These jeans make me walk funny.” “Can I wear my dinosaur hoodie again?” We compromised: hoodie on for a few shots, but he had to wear the other outfits too.
A Hair-Raising Moment
During a break, he found his way to the stylist’s table and began inspecting the hair products. “What’s this do?” he asked, holding up a bottle of volumizing mousse. Before anyone could answer, he had squeezed a generous amount onto his hands and smoothed it through his already gravity-defying hair. The result? A six-year-old with a hairstyle that screamed ‘mad scientist on a sugar rush.’
Wrapping Up the Shoot
As the shoot wrapped up, Jackson declared himself “the best model ever” and asked when his pictures would be in “the newspapers.”
He also made sure to high-five every crew member (some multiple times), steal a few extra biscuits from the snack table, and remind everyone that his flashing trainers were, in fact, “very cool.”
It was chaotic. It was unpredictable. It was, in true Jackson style, absolutely hilarious. And honestly? We wouldn’t have had it any other way.
